MAT Classes (3-14 students)

MAT classes are often considered the foundation of a solid Pilates practice. A series of well-balanced movements are performed on a MAT, sometimes with props for added challenge. Focus is on breath, strength, control, precision, awareness of movement, alignment and flexibility. These fun and challenging exercises, once learned, can be done at home or wherever you go. In combination with apparatus work, you have a perfectly balanced program.

Back to Basics

This MAT class is designed to help manage or resolve such conditions as: scoliosis, herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, stenosis, and general low back pain. The level is slow, progressive, and carefully tailored to each student's back. We will work with people who are undergoing physical therapy or other medical treatment for back pain (a clearance from your physician, PT, or chiropractor is recommended).

Reformer (3-6 students)

The most popular and versatile piece of Pilates equipment, the Reformer facilitates hundreds of strengthening and stretching exercises. It's carriage glides on rails, moving in response to the use of attached springs, pulleys, and ropes.

Equipment Classes (3-6 students)

The apparatus provides spring resistance strength training, is impact free, develops long, lean, flexible muscles, improves alignment and postural issues, provides relief from chronic back, neck, and joint pain and increases energy and stamina. Clients will primarily be working on the Reformer, but may also be introduced to the Wunda Chair, and Wall-Units.

Combo (3-6 students)

This class will incorporate both the MAT and the reformer by taking exercises learned on the MAT and translating them onto a moving platform while adding resistance.

Wunda Chair (3-5 students)

A compact apparatus, the Wunda Chair exercises challenge and enhance stability, balance, and body control. The focus on upper and lower body strength and conditioning makes the Chair a great tool for all types of bodies.

Wall-Unit (3-5 students)

Wall-Units are versions of the Trapeze Tables. They sit low to the floor on raised mats. Matwork is often added to exercises performed on the Wall-Units.

Jumpboard (3-6 students)

Done on the Reformer, this class is fun, challenging, aerobic, and invigorating. It will get your legs, lungs and abdominals in tip top condition while building incredible stamina and coordination. We mix up the jumping with intervals of MAT work providing you with a great overall workout.

Spine Corrector (3-11 students)

This class is intended for students who have previous experience in Pilates and/or are referred following private sessions. Spine Corrector is based on the "Spine Corrector" equipment created and developed by Joseph H. Pilates. This specialized work is intended to deepen the flexibility and strength of the spine in flexion, extension, rotation, and circumlocution. The body is stabilized in seated, prone, and supine positions on the "lip", in the "crevasse", and on the "arc"; mobility is enhanced with core strength development. It can be a great alternative to regular MAT classes and or useful in improving MAT technique.
