Vreeland Yoga

Vreeland Yoga offers small classes for the serious yoga student. The regular practice of yoga enhances well-being and uplifts the physical, mental and spiritual nature of any person. Regular weekly attendance is advised to obtain the benefits this practice provides.

Vreeland Yoga was handed down by Helene Vreeland, who taught traditional yoga in Santa Barbara for over 30 years. Her teachers were Indra Devi, who was trained in the lineage of the great yogi master Krishnamacharya, and Dr. Bhagat Singh Thind. All of our teachers were long-term students of Helene's, and were trained as teachers by her.

Our classes in traditional yoga include instruction and guidance in asanas, pranayamas, relaxation and meditation.

Asanas are physical postures done with breath control. They strengthen and elongate the spine, gently massage the internal organs, and enhance oxygen and blood flow throughout the body.

Pranayamas are precise deep-breathing exercises that create greater health and vitality. We teach the pranayamas handed down by Helene Vreeland's teacher, Dr. Thind.

Relaxation - Each class ends with a period of deep relaxation, including a guided visualization.

Meditation instruction is offered privately to the serious student, after three months of regular class attendance.

Thursdays 7:00-8:25pm
Sundays 8:30-9:55am
